We investigate a method for a posteriori error computation for (visco)plasticity with hardening and damage, as part of an adaptive finite element algorithm. The variational structure admits the use of space-time finite elements, whereby the Discontinuous Galerkin method is used in the time-domain. A key feature is the possibility to select goal-oriented error measures of engineering significance.
