Downlink Massive MIMO performance of a vertically polarized uniform linear array in Random Line-Of-Sight

In the present paper we study the downlink performance of a Massive Multi-User Multiple-Input Multiple-Output narrowband system in Random Line-Of-Sight scenarios. We evaluate the ergodic sum rate for the Zero-Forcing and the Matched-Filtering precoders. We consider a single-cell system comprising a base station with 100 Huygens source antenna elements and 10 users each equipped with a single dipole antenna. No coupling effects between the array elements have been assumed. We show that in a Random Line-Of-Sight environment, the MF precoding performance is better than the ZF over a wider range of average per-user signal-to-noise ratio as compared to the i.i.d. case.
