Mould Growth Inside an Attic Concerning Four Different Future Climate Scenarios

The hygro-thermal conditions inside and outside a cold attic is studied considering possible future climate conditions for the city of Lund in Sweden. Climate inside the attic has been simulated numerically. Weather data from the RCA3 regional climate model downscaling climate scenarios from four different global climate models (GCMs) has been introduced as the outdoor climate to the simulations. The total daily mould dose is calculated by using the daily mean values of the temperature and relative humidity inside and outside the attic for the period of 1961-2100. The seasonal mean mould doses are calculated for all the scenarios in each year. Results show that the risk of mould growth increases in the future. Scatter plots show some correlations between mould doses inside and outside the attic which can be used to decrease the amount of calculations. The comparison also helps to illustrate the uncertainties of working with weather data from different climate change scenarios.
