[Rapport]

Introduction (the report did not have abstract) The aim of the Cassandra project is to analyze and provide an architectural outline and prototype for a transportation information system that meets the future’s demands on transportation effectiveness and security. Work package 2 aims at defining the information and information service requirements of transportation setups that can be found in common industrial service setups. The identified requirements were derived from an external perspective, i.e. society, customer demands, safety regulations, as well as from information services essential for implementation and operation of the future Cassandra system. Cassandra is a co-operation between Chalmers - Div. of logistics and transportation, Chalmers School of Architecture, Volvo Technology, Volvo Logistics and Ericsson Microwave Systems. Several other representatives from other actors in the scope have also been involved through their cooperation in interviews and field studies. A Cassandra scenario was provided by Volvo Logistics and Volvo Technology and serves as a basis for the analysis and to establish a common ground in the interviews with representatives from the involved actors. The scenario describes a dangerous goods flow and has two parts, a current situation overview and an accident scenario, with the future Cassandra system facilitating the information exchange between the actors. The scenario, its parts and actors, is further described in chapter 2. Secondly, a literature study was performed to create a frame of reference and establish an understanding among the authors for the potential benefits of applying information technology in supply-chain setup. The literature study involved books, academic papers, white papers, commercial magazines as well as political announcements.
